What the Bible Says About... Tips

When You Feel...(Part II)

For all the negative things we have to say to ourselves, God has positive
answers. When you feel:

*…you can´t manage, God says: I will supply all your needs (Phil. 4:19)
*…afraid, God says: I have not given you a spirit of fear (II Tim. 1:7)
*…worried and frustrated, God says: Cast all your cares on ME (I Pet. 5:7)
*…too tired to go on, God says: I will give you rest (Matt. 11:28-30)
*…you´re not smart enough, God says: I give you wisdom (I Cor.1:30)
*…alone, God says: I will never leave you or forsake you (Heb.13:5)
*…you can´t forgive yourself, God says: I FORGIVE YOU (I Jn. 1:9; Rom. 8:1)

Grief--More on Grieving

David´s prayer when grieved:
Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly. For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed. Psalm 31:9-10

Jesus Christ knew about grief:
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah 53:3,10

Other verses on grief:
But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. Lament. 3:32,33

For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 1 Peter 2:19

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephes. 4:30

Faith When Tried

Finding Comfort When Your Faith is Tried:

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:6-9

Death--Are You Afraid to Die?

Are you afraid to die? If the Lord Jesus Christ is your saviour You have no need to fear death if the Lord Jesus Christ is your Saviour. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, notes Paul in II Cor. 5:8. Our bones may still lie in a grave somewhere (until the body and soul are one day reunited…read I Thes. 4:13-18), but our soul goes immediately to be with God when we die. What a comfort to have when our saved loved ones pass on, and what a hope for ourselves at our own passing!

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope." 1 Thes. 4:13

Psychics, Seances, the Occult

Question: Is it wrong for a Christian to ask a psychic for help?
Answer: The Bible teaches us to avoid things of the occult. This would include tarot cards, ouiji boards, seances, psychic readings, and even horoscopes. Scriptures that pertain to these include Gen. 41; Exo. 7,8,9; Isa. 47, Deut. 18; Lev. 20; I Sam. 15, 28; Ezek. 12, 13, 21; II Kings 17, Dan. 1, 2,4,5; Micah 5; Acts 8,16; Rev. 9, 18. (References are whole chapters so you can read the verses in their context.) Also see my article on the occult: http://www.christian-tips.com/RscArticleV.asp?id=455

Beauty- *Beautiful* Verses

Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Psalm 29:2

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Proverbs 31:30

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men´s bones, and of all uncleanness. Matthew 23:27

To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61:3

Emotional Stress

Scriptures for Emotional Stress:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Tim. 1:7

Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:14-16

Finances, Money

When you worry about finances, read what Jesus said:

"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:31-33
